Italian is the official language of Italy. It has a large linguistic variation across localities in Italy which we tried to acknowledge and review in creating the Italian translation and, to date (2024) I have never had any feedback suggesting that variation is such that the translation is problematical anywhere and the CORE-OM particularly has been used a lot in Italy. Wikipedia tells me that Italy recognises twelve “historical minority languages” and that they are Albanian, Catalan, German, Greek, Slovene, Croatian, French, Franco-Provençal, Friulian, Ladin, Occitan, and Sardinian.

- Sardinian: one very active supporter of the CORE in Italy is a proud Sardinian and has never mentioned needing a separate Sardinian translation so I think we hope that there’s not a real demographic need for that.
