With English Kiswahili (Swahili) is one of the two official languages of Kenya and we now have nice PDFs of both the CORE-OM and YP-CORE in both languages. The work was done by a wonderful team in Kenya:
Prof Anne Obondo, Prof Caleb Othieno, Darius Nyamai, Vincent Nyongesa, Sonia Ochieng, James Aloo, Nandini Choudhary with invaluable support both in Kenya and from her base in Quito, Ecuador from Prof Clara Paz and with input from me about the CORE translation protocol and in the harmonisation “focus groups”.
We intend to have the CORE-10 and other adult short forms available as PDFs soon.
Data collection for a quantitative exploration of the psychometric properties of both the CORE-OM and YP-CORE are underway in Kenya. We are very happy for people wishing to use the measures in Swahili to have access to the PDFs but for the time being, to ensure that the research team who have done all this hard work are not overtaken to what would become a canonical publication, we ask people to contact me asking for access to copies of the PDFs and I will then connect them with the team who will ask for an undertaking either: to collaborate in data collection and sharing toward the quantitative psychometric exploration paper; or if that’s not possible, just not to publish using either measure until the team have their own paper published.
