Discussions with members of the indigenous communities have convinced us that translating CORE measures, and even the family rating SCORE measures would be a mistake as the indigenous communities’ focus is on communal health not individual. We may be working with a local NGO on developing a measure of “Sumak Kawsay”, which does not have a direct translation, but broadly refers to ‘holistic health’ and to collective health.
