CORE update for May 2021 (sent 18/5/2021)

Update about CORE May2021

At last: a monthly update after just a month!

  • As ever data crunching and writing continue.
  • As announced last month work to replace the current CORE site with a “multisite” continues with Clara Paz pioneering this for Spanish so, as do contact me if you might want to be editor for your language, or to help someone else with that.
  • We are pushing the launch of the new site back from the 16th to the end of the month as we’ve both been overloaded with other things.
  • The translation of the CORE-OM into Estonian is finished.  Hooray and many thanks to Kalle Kallas and all who helped him!  Paper about psychometric exploration in non-help-seeking sample will follow.
  • That only leaves Latvian and Irish of the official EU languages not done.  If you know someone who might co-lead those two, do encourage them to contact me.
  • Paper about the translation of the YP-CORE into Arabic has been accepted which is exciting as it’s the first paper about a translation really countering some of the mythologies about questionnaires and about translations.
  • A few more companies and large services are putting CORE instruments into online forms and doing that properly: liaising with me and respecting the Creative Commons licence.  I think we have also sorted out some small mess with one service that didn’t do it properly.  Please read the licence and explanations before putting the measures into an online system or app.  We have always wanted people to do this but it creates real problems when people don’t respect the licence and change things.  Do encourage people to create such systems and do contact me if you, or they, have any questions.
  • The backlog of work making up PDFs has shifted a little and it seems possible that I may have help doing this later in the year so I am pausing this work pending that as it would enable me to do other things if that did happen.
  • The download of files I created for use during the pandemic continues, now at 24,655 since 21/3/20 see here [lost] for daily stats if that amuses you (I must tweak that form to get better graphs now it’s been running for so long!)

I think that’s it for now.  If you have news you think should be shared here, do contact me.
